50 Cent has publicly expressed his admiration for Tyler Perry, acknowledging the billionaire filmmaker’s mentorship and guidance in shaping his own career. Perry’s influence has been instrumental in helping 50 Cent navigate the entertainment industry and launch his own studio. “He’s helping me, already going out of his way to aid my progress,” 50 Cent shared on Instagram, highlighting the impact Perry has had on him.
Tyler Perry’s Tyler Perry Studios offers immense creative freedom, with 12 sound stages and numerous staged sets, including a county jail, an oval office, and a chapel. This expansive setup has given Perry an edge in securing significant deals, such as a partnership with ViacomCBS, where he reportedly earns $150 million annually for content creation and holds an equity stake in BET+. Perry’s influence continues to grow with his multi-year deal with Amazon to produce, write, and direct films, including his recent release, “Divorce in the Black.”
In February 2024, Perry further expanded his reach by securing a first-look television deal with Netflix, reinforcing his stronghold in the entertainment industry. Perry’s entrepreneurial success goes beyond numbers—his studio is valued at $280 million and offers a six-week paid internship program, TPS Dreamers, to support the next generation of filmmakers.
Perry’s impressive blueprint has been a source of inspiration for 50 Cent, co-creator and executive producer of the hit STARZ series, “Power.” After visiting Tyler Perry Studios in June 2024, 50 Cent shared his excitement, saying, “Tyler showed me some sh-t today that inspired me.” He has since been working on his own studio, G-Unit Studios in Shreveport, LA, set to become the second-largest Black-owned studio after Perry’s.
Despite his success, 50 Cent is in no rush to become a billionaire, unlike Perry. “I’ve reached a point where I don’t have anything that I want that I don’t have,” 50 Cent told Us Weekly. He emphasized that his focus is now on legacy-building and giving back, aligning with the philanthropic mindset that Perry embodies.
