Sabrina Carpenter (11-05-1999) is an American singer and actress, owner of the current hit “Espresso”. During a recent cover shoot for W Magazine, she talked about her teenage idol and reflected on her early career.
The future “pop girl” was a huge supporter of Zac Efron, a famous American actor, from Hairspray and was going through a dangerous “Zac Efron phase”. The singer said: “I was 12 years old, and I was on a beach for the Fourth Of July. He would never remember this, but I saw him and said, ‘I’m a big fan of your work!’ He gave me a hug.” That he was shirtless made an impression on her, she remembered.
The term “Zac Efron phase” describes a period when someone, usually a fan, became really fixated on Zac Efron, especially when he was at the height of his fame from films like Hairspray and High School Musical. Many fans of Zac Efron who were obsessed with him in his early career as a teen heartthrob are familiar with this phrase.
Carpenter, like Efron, had a few small TV and film roles before landing her big break on the Disney Channel. In 2010, at the age of eleven, she went on her first audition. She rose to fame as a cast member of the Disney Channel series Girl Meets World, which ran from 2014 to 2017. She then signed a record deal with Hollywood Records, which is owned by Disney, and released her first single, “Can’t Blame a Girl for Trying”. Carpenter’s later artistic endeavors were centered on her music career, which were, afterwards, supported by the success of her two wide-spread hits, “Nonsense” and “Feather.”
Whereas, Efron began his professional acting career in the early 2000s and became well-known as a teen idol after landing the lead role of Troy Bolton in the High School Musical trilogy (2006–2008). He also starred in the musical Hairspray (2007) during this period. Efron’s film career has been successful and continues to thrive to this day.
