The Can-Am electric motorbike duo Pulse and Origin: Ready to hit the road
After an initial launch in 2022, Can-Am is now launching two commercial versions of their highly anticipated electric motorcycle: Pulse and Origin. Both models are built on a common platform centered around Can-Am’s proprietary Rotax E-Power system, which integrates the battery, charger, inverter and motor into one cohesive unit.
The power supply is a key component of the chassis and is completely liquid cooled to help maintain stable performance even in hot or cold weather conditions.
Advanced driving modes for diverse terrain
The Pulse offers four distinct riding modes — Normal, ECO, Rain and Sport — while the Origin has six, adding Off-Road and Off-Road to the mix. Each mode is designed to provide different levels of throttle response and traction control, responding to different driving conditions. Both models have a combination of active and passive kinetic energy regeneration systems to recharge the battery during travel.
Performance and acceleration
Under the hood, the Can-Am electric motor produces a maximum power of 47 horsepower (27 horsepower continuous) and maximum torque of 72Nm. Both Pulse and Origin have a maximum speed of 128 km/h. The Pulse accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds, while the heavier Origin takes a little longer at 4.4 seconds.
Impressive range and effective design
Powered by an integrated 8.9 kWh lithium-ion battery, the Origin has a range of 145 km city and 115 km combined highway. The Pulse is slightly superior with a city range of 161 km and a combined range of 129 km.
Pulse is equipped with 41mm KYB upside-down forks and twin-tube Sachs spring shock absorbers for a smooth riding experience. Both models are equipped with single 2-piston brake calipers with 320 mm discs at the front and single-piston brake calipers with 240 mm discs at the rear, with integrated ABS as standard.
Advanced technology
A 10.25-inch TFT touchscreen with BRP Connect and Apple CarPlay manages key statistics and the vehicle’s infotainment system, including on-screen media and navigation.
Prices for Origin models range from $14,499 to $16,499, while Pulse models range from $13,999 to $15,999. With these innovative electric motorcycles, Can-Am is expected to make a significant impact in the electric two-wheeler market.
