New ‘Jurassic World’ Sequel Announced
Jurassic World Rebirth, starring Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey, has released its first-look image and is set to premiere in July 2025.
On August 29, the producers unveiled the first glimpse of the seventh installment in the Jurassic World franchise. Directed by Gareth Edwards and written by David Koepp, the film features an all-star cast including Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali.
The story is set five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion (2022), with Earth’s ecosystem no longer suitable for dinosaurs. The plot centers on three of the largest land, sea, and air dinosaurs, which hold the key to developing a drug that could greatly benefit humanity.
However, during the mission to locate these creatures, the research team’s ship is destroyed by a sea-dwelling dinosaur, leaving them stranded on an island. There, they uncover a secret that has been hidden from the world for decades.
Scarlett Johansson plays Zora Bennett, a specialist hired to lead the team in extracting dinosaur DNA. Mahershala Ali co-stars as her colleague, Duncan Kincaid, while Jonathan Bailey portrays Dr. Henry Loomis, an expert on prehistoric species. Rupert Friend plays Martin Krebs, a representative of the pharmaceutical company funding the expedition. The cast also includes Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain, and Ed Skrein as members of Zora Bennett’s team.
From the standpoint of the Hollywood Reporter, Jurassic World Rebirth will feature an entirely new storyline, distinct from the 2022 film. Original stars like Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Sam Neill are not expected to return.
Filming began in June in Thailand, followed by a move to Malta in July. The crew is scheduled to shoot in London in September, with production wrapping up in October.
