[Review] Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania – Marvel’s Perfect Trick!
Unexpected surprises from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
Whoever thinks that the trailer of “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” summarizes the entire content of the movie is completely wrong. Marvel once again proves its ability to deceive spectacularly with a work full of surprises and drama. Prepare for moments that will make you stunned, amazed and surprised at the cinema, because Marvel’s trailer is truly one of the most sophisticated tricks!
How does the story begin?
“Quantumania” opens with a cheerful and happy Scott Lang, living in a peaceful world. Scott writes books, Hope Van Dyne is a social worker, and Hank Pym tries to save money by buying small pizzas. But everything changes when Scott’s daughter Cassie suffers from mental health issues and Janet Van Dyne is determined to keep her past a secret in the Quantum Realm. A grave mistake drags the family into the Quantum Realm, where Janet must confront her past and the enemy she fears – Kang the Conqueror.
Movie Highlights
Over the course of 125 minutes, “Quantumania” delivers a compelling and dramatic superhero experience. The film not only explores the Quantum Realm deeply but also introduces Kang – the fearsome villain of Phases 4 and 5 of the MCU. With a story focused on family affection, “Quantumania” is not as tragic as “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” but also not as overly humorous as “Thor: Love and Thunder”. This is a perfect start to Marvel’s Phase 5, especially after the criticism of recent MCU works.
Special Effects and Action
The film impresses with its top-notch special effects, creating a vivid, mysterious and colorful quantum world. The action scenes are not only eye-catching with close combat but also many unique attacks. Kang’s destructive power, although short, is enough to make viewers hold their breath. However, the film’s soundtrack is not as outstanding as previous works, lacking in liveliness and impression.
Acting and Characters
Paul Rudd continues to affirm his role as Ant-Man, showing the humor and depth of the character. Evangeline Lilly, although not having much screen time, still leaves a strong impression as Hope. Kathryn Newton, who first joined the MCU as Cassie Lang, had a remarkable performance, although she was a bit shy when standing next to veteran actors.
Michelle Pfeiffer, as Janet Van Dyne, proves that age does not diminish the charisma of a great star. Michael Douglas as Hank Pym also leaves a strong impression, although Bill Murray in a supporting role seems to have little impact.
Kang the Conqueror – A New Villain
Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror gives a terrifying and impressive performance, but he is not without his flaws. Despite his strong appeal, Kang’s motives and background are still vague, making the character not as memorable as he could have been.
“Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” is a solid start to Phase 5 of the MCU, although it doesn’t quite reach the heights of the earlier films. The film is entertaining with typical MCU elements, despite some shortcomings. Kang will return in the sequels, and there is certainly more to come from the MCU.
Don’t forget to stick around until the end for the credits – there are two of them!
