NCT Member Taeil Under Investigation for Sexual Misconduct Allegations
Taeil, a 30-year-old member of the popular group NCT, is currently under investigation for allegations related to sexual misconduct. This serious issue has led to a decision by SM Entertainment, the group’s management company, to temporarily remove him from all group activities.
On the afternoon of August 28, SM Entertainment released an official statement confirming that Taeil has been charged in a criminal case involving sexual misconduct. The company emphasized that the matter is under investigation by the authorities and recognized the gravity of the situation. Consequently, Taeil will be unable to continue participating in NCT’s activities during this time. SM Entertainment has pledged to provide further updates to the public as the investigation progresses.
The news of Taeil’s involvement in this case has shocked fans not only in South Korea but across Asia. Previously, Taeil was known for maintaining a low profile in his personal life and staying clear of any scandals.
Taeil, whose real name is Moon Tae Il, is a talented artist with a promising career. He was accepted into the Applied Music program at Hanyang University, one of the most competitive majors in South Korea. Taeil debuted as a member of NCT in 2016 and has significantly contributed to the group’s success. In addition to his work with the group, he has made his mark with several solo songs and contributed to soundtracks, notably for the drama Twenty-Five Twenty-One. In 2021, Taeil also set a Guinness World Record for “The fastest Instagram account to reach one million followers.”
NCT debuted in 2016 and is known for its unique model of multiple sub-units with no fixed number of members. A of June this year, NCT has sold over 40 million albums, making them SM Entertainment’s best-selling artist and one of the most prominent K-pop groups in the world.
