How Former Mayor Suspected of Being a Chinese Citizen Escaped the Philippines
The escape of Alice Guo, a former mayor under investigation for being a Chinese citizen, from the Philippines has attracted much attention. Recently, Alice’s sister, Shiela Guo, revealed details of their family’s escape.
Step-by-Step Moves of the Guo Sisters
During her testimony before a Philippine Senate committee on August 27, Shiela Guo described in detail her escape with her sister Alice Guo and brother Wesley Guo. According to her, the three sisters left the Philippines using a variety of means of transportation, including boats.
Shiela Guo said that the three were picked up by a car from their farm in Tarlac province and traveled south from the evening until midnight. However, she did not know where they first boarded the boat – a small white boat that could hold about 10 people.
From Small Boat to Big Boat
After boarding the small boat, the three sisters transferred to a larger boat, which Shiela Guo believed was a fishing boat because of the nets on it. From the big boat, they continued on a smaller boat to Malaysia.
Current Situation of Family Members
Shiela Guo is currently being held at the Philippine Senate after being arrested along with her business partner, Cassandra Li Ong, in Indonesia last week. Both of them, along with Alice Guo, were among those under arrest warrants since July.
Chinese Nationals and International Fugitives
According to the Director of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) of the Philippines, Jaime Santiago, fingerprint analysis showed that Shiela Guo is also a Chinese national with the name “Zhang Mier.” Senator Risa Hontiveros revealed that Alice Guo, identified as Chinese national Guo Hua Ping, left the Philippines on July 18 for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) confirmed that Alice Guo has traveled through at least three Southeast Asian countries, including Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. PAOCC spokesperson Winston Casio said that Alice Guo is currently trying to leave Indonesia for the Golden Triangle.
According to the latest information from the Philippines Bureau of Immigration (BI) Director Norman Tansingco, Alice Guo is believed to be in Jakarta, Indonesia since August 26.
This article provides an insight into the complicated journey of the three Guo sisters in their attempt to flee the Philippines, as well as their movements on the international trail.
