The Matchmaker for Billionaires
Christiana Maxion has shocked many by charging $350,000 for a matchmaking service, a price she believes is modest for finding one’s true partner.
At 34, Christiana, known as the matchmaker for Dubai’s billionaires, transitioned from a finance career in the U.S. to the education sector in Dubai in 2016. In 2020, the pandemic led her to work remotely, during which she created an Instagram account documenting her dating experiences in Dubai, quickly gaining attention.
Realizing that people in Dubai often hire for everything, Christiana wondered, “Why not hire someone for dating?” She saw this as an untapped market in the UAE. In October 2021, she launched her matchmaking company, initially targeting successful men looking for women, with prices starting around $2,700. She built a database of female candidates through friends, word-of-mouth, and advertising. As her database grew, she began attracting male clients, leading to immediate demand and a daily increase of at least 10 new women in her database.
In its first year, her company was featured in over 100 media outlets. By mid-year, she partnered with Patti Stranger’s Millionaire’s Club and Cinqe Matchmaking to expand her clientele. Prices have since risen to between $30,000 and $350,000, targeting extremely high-net-worth individuals.
To become a client, applicants must undergo a four-step vetting process, including an application, a phone interview, a preliminary call, and payment. This year, working with five billionaires, Christiana noticed they all wanted 100% of her time. Thus, she introduced a new package that includes her support along with seven matchmakers working across different time zones. Her team ensures that someone is always available to assist clients at any hour.
Christiana selects potential matches from her database of over 40,000 female candidates and presents them to her clients. If a match is made, her team arranges a face-to-face meeting. Communication between the match and client is restricted to in-person interactions only. As a mediator, Christiana facilitates the relationship-building process until a long-term connection is found.
Christiana notes that wealthy clients today seek not just beauty but a combination of intelligence and character—someone who can support them in their careers. “Beauty gets you in the door, but intelligence takes you to the top,” she says.
Many wealthy men are poor communicators or lack confidence in romantic relationships. Christiana has helped successful politicians and celebrities, who had lost faith in dating, find lasting relationships through her services.
Christiana advises clients to discard idealized criteria and avoid the quick judgments often made on dating apps based on height, age, or ethnicity. Instead, she recommends focusing on finding a partner with shared values and open communication.
She also suggests skipping lengthy dinner dates in favor of shorter, more informal meetings to better gauge compatibility.
Christiana Maxion claims her service has a success rate of over 95%, despite catering to a selective clientele. “We are the only company in the world offering unlimited global matchmaking services,” she says.
