Adele Plans Extended Break After Las Vegas Residency
Adele, the celebrated British singer known for her powerhouse vocals, has announced plans for a significant break from music following the conclusion of her Las Vegas residency. At 36, Adele intends to focus on creative pursuits rather than releasing new music in the near future.
In an interview with German broadcaster ZDF on July 17, Adele revealed that after wrapping up her “Weekends with Adele” residency at Caesars Palace in November, she will take a “big break.” She expressed a desire to explore creative fields beyond music, such as possibly pursuing an English literature certification or trying her hand at acting, according to the Los Angeles Times.
When asked about the possibility of a fifth album following 30, released in 2021, Adele made it clear she has no immediate plans for new music. “I don’t have much energy left after the long tour in Las Vegas. I can’t even sing at home,” the “Easy On Me” singer explained. Adele also hinted that fans might have to wait a long time before her next musical release.
Adele is no stranger to taking breaks between musical projects. Her latest album, 30, was released in 2021, six years after her previous album, 25. This pattern of extended hiatuses is a familiar one for the artist.
During the interview, Adele shared that fame is one of the reasons she seeks rest. She reminisced about the days before she was widely known, saying, “I miss the days before so many people knew who I was. I enjoyed making music whenever I wanted and having it received and loved by people. That’s a dream that never really happened.” Despite the challenges, she acknowledges that her fame has brought valuable attention to her voice and songwriting.
Born in 1988, Adele has garnered 15 Grammy Awards and sold over 120 million records. She married entrepreneur Simon Konecki in 2018, but they divorced after three years. They have a 12-year-old son, Angelo. Post-divorce, Adele has focused more on parenting and is currently dating Rich Paul, a prominent sports agent.
Adele’s “Weekends with Adele” residency, which began in November 2022, is set to conclude on November 23. She chose Caesars Palace, a venue with a 4,000-person capacity, for her performances, which occur only on weekends. Before finishing her U.S. tour, Adele will hold 10 concerts in Munich, Germany, starting August 2. With 95% of tickets already sold, this marks her first European tour since 2016.
