In a groundbreaking collaboration, Unplugged Performance and Archimedes Defense have unveiled three military-grade versions of the Tesla Cybertruck, aptly named the STING series. These robust, armored vehicles are not just built to withstand the harshest conditions but are also equipped to serve both military and civilian needs, showcasing unparalleled durability and power.
The STING series, developed from Unplugged Performance’s “INVINCIBLE” off-road components, includes three variants designed to maximize charging efficiency and provide superior protection. These vehicles, while rooted in cutting-edge technology, push the boundaries of what electric vehicles can achieve in extreme environments.
STING Baja is the entry-level model, featuring specialized upgrades for off-road performance. With a Starlink dish ensuring internet connectivity in remote areas and the AMP Drive G125TM 800V generator reducing reliance on traditional power grids, this variant is built for adventure. The compact piston generator, capable of using various jet fuels, can charge the vehicle with up to 125 kW of power and even supply power to other vehicles via the NACS charging cable.
STING Protector, the mid-tier option, offers the same robust off-road capabilities as the Baja but adds a removable armored shell resistant to 7.62mm rifle rounds. This version is designed for individuals, businesses, and government agencies operating in moderately hazardous environments, providing enhanced security without sacrificing mobility.
STING APC, the top-of-the-line model, is engineered for the most dangerous missions, featuring mine and IED resistance. Its removable armored and ceramic exterior is built to withstand heavy machine gun fire, up to 14.5mm rounds. Designed for high-risk operations, the APC includes an optional generator for extended missions, making it the ultimate vehicle for those with the most demanding security requirements.
While these vehicles might seem over-engineered for the present, they are crafted with a future in mind—a time when global chaos may render traditional power grids unreliable, and only the most resilient vehicles can navigate the extreme conditions. The Cybertruck STING, set for release in 2024, is designed to meet these challenges head-on.
Though pricing details have yet to be revealed, the STING models are expected to start at over $50,000 each. Unplugged Performance also notes that the Protector and APC versions may face road-use restrictions due to safety and weapons regulations.
With the Cybertruck STING, electric vehicles are no longer delicate machines. These armored, heavily upgraded vehicles are ready to conquer any terrain, ensuring that users with the highest safety standards can trust their Cybertruck in the most extreme environments.
