After failing the gender test, female boxer Lin Yu Ting has made a strong comeback and entered the quarter-finals of the 2024 Paris Olympics with a convincing victory.
At the 2023 World Boxing Championships, Imane Khelif (Algeria) and Lin Yu Ting (Chinese Taipei) were disqualified for failing the gender test.

The International Boxing Federation (IBA) said that both female athletes have XY chromosomes in their genome. They assessed that this makes the two boxers have testosterone levels that exceed the standard of female athletes, creating a much higher physical advantage.
However, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) still decided to let both boxers participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics. The IOC explained that both of them have natural female gender, without any intervention or surgery, so they are clearly still women.
Imane Khelif caused a huge wave of controversy when she defeated female boxer Angela Carini (Italy) after only 46 seconds in the ring. Immediately after the match, there was a lot of false information about Khelif, including rumors that she was transgender. Although the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has clarified the situation, there is still much debate surrounding whether Khelif is qualified to compete or not.

Recently, female boxer Lin Yu Ting also made a strong impression when she won the round of 16 in the 57 kg category. She defeated Sitora Turdibekova (Uzbekistan) in an overwhelming manner. After the defeat, Turdibekova left the field in tears and did not participate in the usual hugs and congratulations between boxers.
In the next match, Lin Yu Ting will meet female boxer Svetlana Staneva (Bulgaria). In the round of 16, Staneva also had an impressive achievement when she easily defeated Michaela Waslh (Ireland).
