In a recent interview with I-D on November 18, Rosé of Blackpink shared insights from her conversation with Taylor Swift at the Electric Lady Studios in September 2023. This spontaneous meeting involved Taylor Swift’s long-time music producer, Jack Antonoff, and offered Rosé valuable advice as she prepared for her solo career. During their chat, Rosé expressed her admiration for Taylor Swift, mentioning that she had some questions for her idol. Swift, always supportive, offered her wisdom and encouraged Rosé to reach out whenever she had any doubts.
Rosé, who is featured as the cover star of the latest I-D magazine issue, expressed her gratitude towards Taylor Swift. “I’m really grateful for her, especially since I was feeling a bit worn out at that time,” Rosé explained. At that moment, Rosé was transitioning to a solo career after leaving YG Entertainment. Becoming an independent artist wasn’t an easy feat, and Rosé needed to be cautious about various aspects of her new path. Taylor Swift shared key tips and helped Rosé navigate the challenges ahead.
“She’s truly amazing, a woman who supports other women,” Rosé said. “She even reminded me to pay attention to logistics and various management details. She really tried to protect me.”
This is not the first time Rosé has shown admiration for Taylor Swift. Back in February, Rosé attended Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour concert in Tokyo and shared a heartfelt video of herself singing along to All Too Well (10 Minute Version) with the caption: “This was the best 10 minutes in Tokyo.”
Rosé (whose real name is Park Chaeyoung) is 27 years old and was born in New Zealand, later moving to Australia with her family at the age of 8. She signed with YG Entertainment after an audition in 2012, spending four years as a trainee before debuting as the lead vocalist of Blackpink in August 2016. In June 2020, she ranked eighth in the Top 10 Most Beautiful Faces in Asia. Recently, her track “APT.” with Bruno Mars became a massive hit, breaking multiple records.
Following the success of “APT.”, Rosé is set to release her new single “Number One Girl” on November 22, and her debut album “Rosie” on December 6. Unlike the bold music style of Blackpink, Rosé has revealed that her new songs delve into her vulnerable side, expressing loneliness and personal struggles.
In an interview with Nylon in November, Rosé shared, “This album reflects my life over the past three to four years and all the true emotions I’ve never mentioned before. It has a lot of sad stories and broken moments in it. I think that’s the beauty of this project, and it’s also what I love most about creativity: turning something painful into something beautiful.”
