SZA, the Grammy-winning artist and global sensation, recently opened up about her conflicting emotions regarding the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) she underwent in 2022. In her candid interview with British Vogue for their December 2024 issue, SZA described the procedure as both unnecessary and personally fulfilling.
“I’m so mad I did that,” she admitted. “During recovery, I gained a lot of weight trying to preserve the fat. It felt so stupid. But at the same time, who cares? This body is temporary. I might do more things if I want to before I’m gone.”
Despite her regrets about the process, SZA remains confident about the results. “I love my butt,” she shared. “It looks nice—sometimes natural, sometimes not. I enjoy it. I love shaking it, and I’m happy with it.”
Breaking the Silence on Cosmetic Enhancements
Unlike many celebrities who remain quiet about cosmetic surgery, SZA has been refreshingly honest. In her 2022 interview with Elle, she discussed the cultural and personal motivations behind her decision. “That’s some Jersey stuff,” she joked.
SZA even likened her enhanced body to an accessory that complements her outfits. “I treat my butt like a purse,” she said. “It’s just there to enhance whatever I’m wearing. That’s why I paid for it—it works all by itself.”
Focus on Mental and Physical Wellness
While SZA enjoys the aesthetic benefits of her BBL, she also emphasized the importance of mental health and inner growth. “I realize wherever you go, there you’ll be,” she said, acknowledging that external changes don’t resolve internal struggles. “I need to focus on myself mentally, not just physically.”
Owning Her Choices
SZA’s honesty about her BBL journey highlights the complexities of body image and self-acceptance in today’s world. While she regrets the decision at times, she stands by her choice to enhance her body for her own satisfaction. Her candid reflections encourage fans to embrace their individuality and make decisions that align with their personal desires—without apology.
