Amanda Seyfried, the actress best known for her roles in Mamma Mia!, Les Miserables, and Mean Girls, has found the perfect work-life balance after deciding to move to a farm in Upstate New York. After several years of living in New York City, the hustle and bustle of urban life became overwhelming, prompting Seyfried to seek the tranquility of rural life. Now, with a husband and two children, she says she wouldn’t change a thing.
In a recent interview with Forbes, Seyfried shared that her decision to move to Upstate New York, long before starting her family, has given her a sense of privacy and peace that city living couldn’t provide. “It was the best decision for my mental health,” she said. “It offers a more balanced life than the city does.”
While Seyfried still loves her career and acting, she explains that having this “peaceful place to call home” allows her to better “acclimate to the faster lifestyle of the city, the high-energy of press events, and life on-set.” She finds that the slower pace of the countryside helps her reset after the demands of her Hollywood career.
Now living on a farm, Seyfried spends much of her time caring for animals, including her Australian Shepherd, Finn. Though she admits there was a “learning curve” at first, she describes her farm life as exhilarating and full of purpose. “It’s been the most rewarding experience,” she says.
For Seyfried, trips to the city are now seen as fun getaways, knowing that the next day she’ll return to her peaceful home. “I’m even happier in my boots, in the mud, feeding the animals,” she adds.
Seyfried’s choice reflects a growing trend among A-list celebrities who, like Jason Segel, have moved away from the Hollywood spotlight to find peace and purpose in quieter surroundings. For Seyfried, living on a farm has been her best decision yet.
