SZA, the Grammy-winning artist behind hits like Snooze, has opened up about her regrets over undergoing a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL). In a candid interview with British Vogue for its December issue, the 35-year-old admitted the procedure wasn’t as fulfilling as she had hoped.
A Regretful Decision
SZA revealed she turned to the surgery after not seeing results from her gym workouts in early 2022.
“I was so mad at myself for doing that dumb stuff,” SZA shared. “I gained so much weight because I couldn’t move while recovering and was trying to keep the fat. It was stupid.”
Despite achieving the look SZA thought she wanted, SZA acknowledged that the procedure was “really unnecessary.”
While reflecting on her journey, SZA emphasized the importance of mental health over physical appearance.
“I needed to get my mental health in order,” SZA explained. “It’s not that you can’t do both, but for me, I realized wherever you go, there you are.”
Embracing Her Body
Despite her regrets, SZA shared her appreciation for her new physique.
“I love my butt. Don’t get it twisted. My butt looks great,” she said. “Sometimes it even looks natural, but honestly, I don’t care.”
SZA added, “It’s something I wanted, and I love shaking it.”
The SOS singer isn’t ruling out more cosmetic enhancements in the future.
“I’ll do more stuff like that if I want before I die because this body is temporary,” SZA remarked.
This isn’t the first time SZA has addressed her BBL. In her 2022 song SOS, SZA openly sang about enhancing her figure:
“That ass so fat, it looks natural but it’s not.”
Additionally, in a May 2023, SZA likened her BBL to a functional accessory.
“I treat my butt like a purse,” SZA said. “It’s just there to enhance whatever else, and that’s why I paid for it—it works on its own.”
