Georgina Cooper, one of the most iconic British supermodels of the 1990s, tragically passed away just days after her wedding. The heartbreaking news has left fans and friends in the fashion industry in shock.
According to Georgina’s former representative, Dean Goodman, the supermodel died unexpectedly on the Greek island of Kros, alongside her new husband. Dean shared with Mail Online: “She loved Greece and told me that she and her husband would be returning to England. But she tragically passed away there two weeks ago.”
Georgina had faced some health issues during the COVID-19 pandemic, with multiple hospitalizations. Despite that, her sudden death during a holiday in Kros stunned her family and friends. “She had just gotten married and was excited about her new life. Everyone is in disbelief,” Dean added.
In June, Georgina tied the knot with her husband, Nigel, and the couple went on a honeymoon to Kros. They returned to the island in October, where they were in the process of opening a bar together. They had big plans for their future, but fate took everything away in an instant.
Jade Parfitt, a model and close friend of Georgina, expressed her sorrow: “Georgina was a bright light, always cheerful and full of life. She was the kind of person everyone wanted to hang out with after work. She achieved so much in the fashion industry.”
Georgina Cooper was born in London and began her modeling career at the age of 13, placing third in the Elite Look of the Year competition in 1992. She quickly gained attention and rose to fame as one of the top models of the 1990s, alongside Kate Moss. Georgina walked for major fashion houses like Versace, Alexander McQueen, Burberry, and Stella McCartney, and graced the covers of prominent fashion magazines like The Face and American Vogue.
Georgina’s passing is a great loss not only to the fashion industry but also to all those who admired her.
