The recent game against the Memphis Grizzlies marked LeBron James’ 1,500th NBA regular season appearance, a historic milestone for the American basketball superstar.
On the evening of November 6 (local time), the Los Angeles Lakers faced off against the Memphis Grizzlies at the Grizzlies’ home court, marking an unforgettable moment for the NBA legend and the 22-year veteran LeBron James. Known as “The King,” LeBron James has one of the most illustrious careers in NBA history. He is a four-time NBA champion, winning titles with the Miami Heat (2012, 2013), Cleveland Cavaliers (2016), and Los Angeles Lakers (2020).
The 2003 NBA Draft No. 1 pick, LeBron James has also won four MVP awards (2009, 2010, 2012, 2013) and has made 20 All-Star appearances. This game marked his 1,500th NBA regular season appearance, a feat achieved by only five other players in history, including John Stockton (1,504), Dirk Nowitzki (1,522), Vince Carter (1,541), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (1,560), and Robert Parish (1,611).
However, LeBron James did not get to celebrate the moment with a win, as the Los Angeles Lakers fell 114-131 to the Memphis Grizzlies. He scored a total of 39 points, 6 assists, and 7 rebounds. The Lakers succeeded in only 15 of their 48 three-point shots, with LeBron James boasting the best shooting efficiency at 6-for-11.
Austin Reaves (19 points, 5 assists), D’Angelo Russell (12 points, 3 assists), and rookie Dalton Knecht (3 points) combined for only five successful shots out of 25 attempts from the three-point line. The missed shots, especially early in the game, created fast-break opportunities for the Grizzlies, allowing them to establish an early lead.
The Memphis Grizzlies were led by Ja Morant, who scored 20 points and 5 assists but had to leave the game early in the third quarter due to an injury. His chances of returning were rated low due to a right hamstring issue.
The Lakers will return home to face the Philadelphia 76ers on the evening of November 8.
