Jamaine “The Technician” Ortiz (18-2-1, 9 KOs) has made a convincing return to the winning path with a knockout of veteran Cristian Mino (24-10-2, 17 KOs) in the fourth round of their ten-round bout on the evening of November 1 at Caribe Royale, Orlando, Florida.
Throughout the fight, Ortiz knocked Mino down four times with his superior physique, forcing Mino to remain in a defensive stance and knocking him down in all four rounds. In the fourth round, Ortiz cornered Mino and unleashed a rapid series of punches, ending with two powerful left hands that sent Mino down after taking the full barrage. The referee quickly intervened and stopped the fight, with the official stoppage time recorded at 2:00 of the fourth round.
Previously, 28-year-old Jamaine Ortiz had suffered a controversial unanimous decision loss to WBO lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez on February 8, in a match that many boxing fans believed Ortiz had done enough to secure victory, but the outcome contradicted their perceptions. However, tonight, Ortiz did not want to leave the decision to the judges; he aggressively attacked Mino from the first round, and under the intense pressure of Ortiz’s punches, Mino went down. Although Ortiz landed two punches at the end that could be considered illegal, the referee made no decision regarding them.
In the second round, Ortiz immediately demonstrated his power with a strong body shot, knocking Mino down instantly, though Mino quickly got back up, surprising many spectators. Round three saw Ortiz continue to showcase his strength, knocking Mino down with a left hand to the head.
