Basketball icon LeBron James and his high school sweetheart, Savannah Brinson, have built a life together over more than two decades and now live happily with their three children.
The Beginning: High School Sweethearts
LeBron and Savannah first met in Akron, Ohio, where they attended rival high schools. At 17, LeBron was already a rising basketball star at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, while Savannah, two years younger, was a cheerleader at her school. A mutual friend mentioned that LeBron was interested in getting her phone number. Savannah playfully recalled, “I thought, no, I’ll take his number.” Eventually, she reached out, leading to a phone conversation, after which LeBron invited her to one of his games. Their first date was at a local Outback Steakhouse, marking the beginning of their journey together.
Supporting Each Other Through Life’s Ups and Downs
Savannah became pregnant in 2003 when LeBron was just 19, and though initially worried about her parents’ reaction and LeBron’s career, he reassured her, remaining by her side. Their first child, LeBron James Jr., or Bronny, was born in 2004. Three years later, they welcomed their second son, Bryce Maximus.
In 2011, LeBron proposed to Savannah during a New Year’s Eve celebration in France to commemorate a decade of dating. Describing it as a pivotal moment, he shared with Oprah Winfrey, “I felt it was time to say that I wanted her by my side for the long haul.” They married on September 14, 2013, in San Diego, with Savannah expressing admiration for LeBron, calling him a “king who treats his woman like a queen.”
A Growing Family and Enduring Love
In October 2014, the couple welcomed their daughter, Zhuri Nova. Reflecting on fatherhood, LeBron has shared how having a daughter brought a new sense of strength and sensitivity to his life.
While Savannah is known for her strong support for LeBron’s career, she is also a successful entrepreneur and philanthropist in her own right. She founded the “Women of Our Future” mentorship program and frequently shares glimpses into her family life on social media, where she has a following of over 1.7 million fans.
Today, LeBron James, born in 1984, is a celebrated NBA legend. Known for his initial career with the Cleveland Cavaliers (2003–2010), he later joined the Miami Heat, winning multiple championships, before returning to Cleveland in 2014. Since 2018, he has played for the Los Angeles Lakers and remains one of the most accomplished players in NBA history with four championships and four MVP titles to his name.
