Jamie Spears, the father of pop star Britney Spears, has made his first public appearance on the streets after undergoing amputation surgery. Currently, Jamie Spears (71 years old) needs to move around in a wheelchair and requires assistance from someone nearby. He is living in a mobile home parked next to a storage unit in Kentwood, Louisiana, which houses Britney’s memorabilia.
Recently, Jamie was seen moving from a car into the storage unit, needing help and sitting in a wheelchair. He underwent the amputation surgery last November. His right leg had to be amputated above the knee. An anonymous source told, Jamie underwent knee replacement surgery but faced severe postoperative complications that led to the amputation.
In recent years, Jamie Spears has frequently been hospitalized for various health issues. Britney has not commented on her father’s health condition, and there are reports suggesting that she does not intend to reconcile with him after he served as her guardian for 13 years. Recently, Britney has reconnected with her mother, Lynne Spears.
In 2022, a year after Britney Spears regained her autonomy over her personal life, Jamie shared his feelings with the media.
Jamie Spears has consistently claimed that the 13 years of guardianship over Britney were necessary for her survival. However, he has been viewed by the public as a “villain” in Britney’s life, facing numerous allegations of exerting harsh control over her life and profiting from her assets.
Britney Spears has even threatened to sue her father to seek justice for his actions during his time as her guardian. Nevertheless, Jamie still believes that the guardianship helped maintain stability in Britney’s relationship with her two sons for a significant period.
He acknowledged that his family life has not been easy and that he has become a target of media scrutiny. Ultimately, Jamie asserted, “I have loved my daughter with both my heart and my mind. Without the guardianship during her darkest years, Britney might not have survived.”
