Jake Paul: ‘Mike Tyson Will Be My Next Victim’
American YouTuber Jake Paul has continued to make a name for himself in the boxing world with a technical knockout victory over Mike Perry—a former UFC fighter—in the sixth round. Following the fight, Paul confidently expressed his desire to face the legendary Mike Tyson in the near future.
Originally, Mike Tyson was slated to fight Jake Paul at the 80,000-seat Dallas Cowboys Stadium, with the event set to stream live on Netflix on July 20. However, the match was postponed due to Tyson experiencing health issues while on a flight. The fight has now been rescheduled for November 15.
Mike Perry – A Challenging Replacement Opponent
With Tyson stepping down, Mike Perry—an MMA fighter with 14 wins out of 22 matches—was selected as Paul’s opponent in Tampa, Florida on July 20. Perry, a standout in BKFC (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship) in the U.S., boasted a five-fight winning streak. However, Perry was at a size disadvantage against Paul and was quickly knocked down in the first round by a powerful right hand.
Jake Paul swiftly took control of the match with accurate jab punches, knocking Perry to the canvas just 30 seconds into the second round. Perry responded in the third round, opening a cut above Paul’s left eye. Nonetheless, from the fourth round onward, Paul continued to press aggressively, repeatedly pinning Perry into the corner and ultimately winning in the sixth round when the referee stopped the fight.
Jake Paul’s Overwhelming Stats
According to CompuBox data, Jake Paul maintained dominance throughout all six rounds. He threw 226 punches with 96 connecting—a 43% success rate, while Perry managed only 27%. Notably, Paul landed 142 jab punches with a 37% accuracy, double Perry’s. Paul’s power punches were also double those of his opponent, with superior precision.
Jake Paul Challenges Mike Tyson
After the fight, Perry acknowledged Paul’s power and praised his speed: “He was too fast for me and didn’t just stand still waiting to get hit.” Paul also expressed respect for Perry but declared Tyson as his next target: “Tyson will be my next victim. Anytime, anywhere.”
In response to Paul’s challenge, Mike Tyson replied on social media, posting, “The countdown begins,” hinting at his readiness for the end-of-year match.
Jake Paul, once a popular YouTuber, entered the world of professional boxing in 2020 and now boasts an impressive record of 11 matches, with 9 wins and only a single loss to Tommy Fury in February 2023. Paul’s net worth has also grown to $35 million, far surpassing Mike Tyson’s $10 million, according to British outlet Sunsport.
With his official challenge to Tyson, Jake Paul continues to solidify his place in the boxing scene, ready for more high-profile matches in the future.
