USA Rugby Leadership Welcomes Amor’s Expertise
Tamara Sheppard, USA Rugby’s General Manager of High Performance, noted that Amor’s experience and player development skills make him an ideal fit for the team. She emphasized that, with the LA2028 Olympics approaching, Amor’s leadership will play a vital role in the team’s progress and aspirations.
A Proven Track Record in Rugby Sevens
Amor’s career includes playing for Premiership and England Sevens, where he earned the World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year in 2004. As a coach, he’s led teams to podium finishes at the Commonwealth Games and Rugby World Cup Sevens, with highlights including a silver medal for Great Britain Men’s Sevens at the Rio Olympics. Building Towards LA2028
Inspired by the Women’s Eagles Sevens’ recent success in Paris, Amor aims to place the USA Men’s Sevens in the top eight of the HSBC World SVNS Series this year. As the team prepares for Dubai in a few weeks, Amor acknowledges the challenge but remains optimistic, highlighting the impressive potential within the team’s player pathway. This year’s focus, he noted, will be on establishing commitment and laying the groundwork for long-term success on the path to LA2028.
