New experience with the highest swing in Europe
Berlin, Germany’s vibrant capital, has unveiled a thrilling new attraction that’s not for the faint-hearted: a swing perched atop a 40-story hotel, soaring 120 meters above the ground.
Billed as the tallest swing in Europe, this adrenaline-pumping ride offers visitors a unique way to take in the panoramic views of the city. Suspended high above Berlin, riders are secured with safety harnesses before being propelled forward by staff, reaching the peak height where nothing stands between them and the ground far below.
Each swing session lasts approximately five minutes and costs around 20 euros (about 21 USD). Since its opening in June, the swing has attracted over 100 visitors daily.
Pasca Vent, a 36-year-old communications professional, decided to try the swing to celebrate his birthday. “After the first few swings, you start to get used to it and feel a sense of freedom. I came here to feel a little younger,” Vent shared.
Wendy Sorice, a 30-year-old hotel employee, described the experience as a “wave of adrenaline,” adding that she could easily enjoy the ride for more than the allotted five minutes.
Andi Hoefer, the project’s executive director and operator of several attractions across Germany, explained, “We wanted to create something simple and accessible.” Previously, the company had offered a rooftop skydiving service, but it didn’t garner much interest.
This new swing adds a fresh competitive edge to Berlin’s iconic 368-meter television tower, a symbol of the former East Germany known for its sweeping views of the city. Hoefer enthusiastically noted, “They have tilted windows, but we have a rooftop and fresh air.”
Before Berlin’s new swing, the record for Europe’s tallest swing was held by Amsterdam with a 100-meter-high swing. Hoefer modestly told AFP that breaking this record “was purely coincidental.”
