Italian Brand Once Sued Kendall Jenner for Breach of Contract
Kendall Jenner, one of the world’s top supermodels, faced a lawsuit from the Italian fashion brand Liu Jo for allegedly breaching the terms of her modeling contract.
The Lawsuit and Contract Dispute
The lawsuit, filed in Manhattan court, claims that while Kendall participated in the first scheduled photoshoot as outlined in her contract, she failed to appear for the second shoot. This second session was initially scheduled for March 2020, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it had to be delayed. Liu Jo is now seeking $1.8 million in damages for this breach of contract.
Advance Payment and Lack of Communication
According to the lawsuit, Liu Jo had already paid Kendall Jenner $1.35 million in advance when the contract was signed in 2019. However, despite several attempts to reschedule the second shoot, the brand reportedly received no response from Kendall or her representatives. Additionally, Liu Jo claimed that they had not received any reimbursement for the advance payment made to the supermodel.
Kendall Jenner’s Response and Representation
Reporters from Reuters were unable to reach Kendall Jenner for comment. The companies that represent Kendall, including The Society Model Management and its parent company Elite World Group, declined to comment on the matter. Liu Jo’s public relations team also did not provide any official statement regarding the lawsuit.
Kendall Jenner’s Modeling Career
Kendall Jenner, who gained widespread fame from the reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians, began her modeling career at the age of 14. As a half-sister of the Kardashian family, she has since become a leading figure in the fashion industry, gracing the covers of magazines like Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and walking the runway for top brands such as Donna Karan, Tommy Hilfiger, Marc Jacobs, D&G, Chanel, and Versace. Despite her success, this legal issue with Liu Jo has put the supermodel in the spotlight for the wrong reasons.
