American YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul recently defeated Mike Perry, a former UFC fighter and current bare-knuckle boxer, with a technical knockout in the sixth round. Following the victory, Paul confidently stated that his next target is none other than boxing legend Mike Tyson.
Originally, Paul and Tyson were scheduled to square off on July 20 at the Dallas Cowboys’ 80,000-seat home stadium. The match was set to be streamed live on Netflix. However, Tyson withdrew from the event due to a health issue on his flight, and the fight was rescheduled for November 15.
To fill the gap left by Tyson’s absence, Mike Perry stepped in as Paul’s opponent for the July 20 fight in Tampa, Florida. Perry, who holds a 14-8 record in mixed martial arts, previously competed in the UFC but never contended for a title. After leaving the UFC in 2021, Perry signed with the bare-knuckle boxing promotion BKFC, where he maintained an undefeated 5-0 record, including a victory over former BKFC middleweight champion Thiago Alves in April 2024.
Despite Perry’s experience, he struggled against Paul. In the first round, Paul knocked Perry down with a precise right hand and maintained control with effective jabs. Just 30 seconds into the second round, Paul sent Perry to the canvas again.
Although Perry fought back in the third round, landing punches that caused a cut above Paul’s left eye, Paul regained control from the fourth round onward. He pushed Perry into the corner multiple times, knocking him down for a third time in the sixth round. The referee stopped the match 1 minute and 12 seconds into the round, awarding Paul the victory.
CompuBox statistics revealed Paul’s dominance throughout the six rounds. The YouTuber threw 226 punches, with 96 landing (a 43% success rate), while Perry landed just 33 out of 122 punches (27%). Paul’s jab was especially effective, with 52 out of 142 jabs landing (37%), compared to Perry’s 11 out of 49 jabs (22%). Paul also landed 44 power punches, doubling Perry’s total.
After the fight, Perry acknowledged Paul’s performance, admitting, “You were too fast for me, and I couldn’t adjust.”
Paul expressed respect for Perry but made it clear that he’s still focused on his original goal—fighting Tyson. “Perry hurt me, but I hurt him too. Tyson is next. I’m ready for anyone, anytime, anywhere,” the 27-year-old said.
Tyson, now 58, responded to Paul’s challenge on social media, writing, “The countdown begins… 118 days. 16 weeks and 6 days. 17 weekends. 169,920 minutes. 10,195,200 seconds.”
Jake Paul, who began his professional boxing career in 2020, has since participated in 11 fights, winning nine and losing one—his only defeat came in February 2023 against Tommy Fury, the younger brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. According to Sunsport, Paul’s net worth stands at $35 million, while Tyson’s is estimated at $10 million. As the highly anticipated November match approaches, fans are eager to see whether Paul can stand up to the legendary Tyson in what could be one of the most talked-about fights of the year.
